Ohio Flag

An official government website.

All voters must now show I.D. at the polls before they are allowed to vote a regular ballot. Acceptable identification includes:

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License
  • Valid State issued photo I.D.
  • Military I.D.
  • A COPY of a different form of current photo identification (a driver’s license, state ID card, or interim ID form issued by the Ohio BMV; a US passport or passport card; or a US military ID card, Ohio National Guard ID card, or US Department of Veterans Affairs ID card). The copy of the photo ID must include images of the front and back, except for a passport which must include the passport’s identification page.

Please note: voter registration acknowledgement or notification is not an acceptable form of identification. Voters who do not provide one of these documents will still be able to vote by providing the last four digits of the voter’s social security number and by casting a provisional ballot.

Voters who do not have any of the above forms of identification, including a social security number, will still be able to vote by signing an affirmation statement swearing to the voter’s identity under penalty of election falsification and by casting a provisional ballot.
